Now, before you proceed to the Grey’s Anatomy trivia, here are some interesting facts that you may and may not know about the series. Enjoy!
Grey’s Anatomy is the longest-running ABC series
Among the scripted prime-time TV shows of the channel, these doctors are the biggest hit. Impressive ratings and viewer engagement do not let the show close. As of 2020, it accounts for 15 seasons over the last 15 years. Over the 300 episodes, you basically live these doctors’ full adult lives - building relationships, families, and even encountering a few significant deaths.
The closest competitors of the series are The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriett and NYPD Blue.
The title is meaningful
While the title oh so conveniently coincides with the main character’s surname, its meaning actually runs deeper than that. Gray’s Anatomy is a famous medical book written by doctor Henry Gray more than 100 years ago!
A few other title ideas were suggested initially, but I’m glad they settled on this one.
Only three original leads remain
Over the 15 seasons of the show, we’ve seen many new faces and tragic deaths. It’s always shocking when the main cast leaves the show. As a result, only three main characters from season one are still on the show: Meredith, Richard, and Miranda. These are the long-standing doctors, basically the pillars of the series.
It is real
Grey’s Anatomy takes its medical aspects rather seriously. For each season script, the creators hire real doctors as advisors to control the accuracy of procedures and medical jargon. Doctors review each line and action!
Also, one of the essential background characters beloved by the public, Bohkee, is an actual nurse. The woman knows what she’s doing!
There are two Grey’s Anatomy spin-off
Surprisingly, many Grey’s fans do not know about the two short spin-offs of the series, myself included. You can search them by Private Practice and Station 19.
Camilla Luddington is British
Her impressive American accent hides Camilla’s British origins rather well. In reality, she has a striking British accent that you can hear in her recent work in Kate Middleton’s role.
These are some of the most interesting facts about the beloved show of thousands, if not millions, of people. Now, let’s proceed to the Greys Anatomy quiz to check your medical drama skills.
